If we are serious about every child’s future, let’s get serious about doing what works. Giving educators and support staff the right to negotiate their contracts works for our students.

When the folks who know the names of our students have a seat at the table, great things can happen.

Educator and support staff-negotiated contracts help recruit and retain the top-notch teachers and support personnel our students deserve.

Educators and support staff have used contract negotiations to secure smaller class sizes, increase one-on-one attention for students from professionals like nurses, counselors and instructional assistants.

By joining together, we can help ensure that each student has access to safe transportation, social and emotional support, meals and after care programs, and high-quality instruction in schools that are safe and well maintained.

No contract should be one-size-fits-all. Educator and support staff negotiated contracts provide school districts with the freedom to tackle each school’s local challenges head on.

MCEA’s Support Staff Authorization Card Campaign

The road to winning a meaningful seat at the table for MCPS Support Staff begins today!

If you want a meaningful seat at the table for bus drivers, custodians, instructional assistants, office staff, facilities /warehouse and transportation staff when it comes to negotiating working conditions, work rules and safety, then fill out this online authorization card.

When we receive a high level of support, we will petition the school board to hold an election for MCEA Support Staff members to represent their colleagues to collectively bargain on issues that matter to you!

Each card will ask for your name, address, email, and employee ID which can be found on your pay stub. Your personal info will not be shared. The only reason we need to include your employee number is to prove that the individual on the card is, in fact, an employee of MCPS. 

You do not need to join MCEA to fill out an authorization card. No one is ever required to be a member even when we win the right to collectively bargain. Your voice at the table improves the working conditions for all employees and learning conditions for all students! That is our purpose and why we choose to join together.

We will always invite and welcome you to join MCEA! You will never be compel you to join.
